HOW TO ORDER FRAMES

The key to quick response from the time you submit an order until the time it is shipped is making sure the order is complete.  The attached forms and instructions for ordering frames are designed to help you to consider all of the issues and options which need to be specified at the time the frame is ordered.

A fitting should include:

1.      Profile of the rider to find out what is wanted in a bike, your likes and dislikes of your current ride, past experience, proposed use and any special needs or desires.

2.      Measurements of your body.  It is necessary to use our measuring instructions for us to be helpful.

3.      Measurements from your best fitting bike or a bike from a sales floor, noting any fit problems.

4.      Equipment and options.

After you have provided sizing information for your custom frame specifications, we will provide you with our recommendations on the Custom Frame Authorization Form.  We will ask you to approve the recommendations and fax or mail the Authorization back to us.  A nonrefundable deposit of 50% will be required for all custom frames.

SECTION 2:  BODY MEASUREMENTS

Be sure to follow the guidelines listed below and refer to the attached diagrams for any questions.  It is crucial that these measurements are filled in completely.

1.  You should have another person help you with this measuring process.

2.  You should dress in cycling shorts, jersey, and socks without shoes.

3.  Repeat each measurement until you get a consistent value.

4.  You may measure in inches or centimeters, but please label which.

A.  Height = ____________

Stand with back against a wall with feet 15cm (6") apart.  Heels should rest against wall with feet pointing straight.

B.  Inseam = ____________

Stand with back against wall.  Hold a hard cover book, with a 2.5cm (1") binding, against the wall and between your legs.  Make sure your weight is evenly distributed on both legs.  Book should be parallel to ground and pulled up as high as possible to ensure an accurate measurement.  Make sure that the book contacts your pelvis.  Measure from the ground to the top of the book, making sure that tape measure is perpendicular to the floor and your back is straight.

C.  Thigh Length = ____________

Use same method as above (b), only this time you should be kneeling instead of standing.  Be sure that thighs are perpendicular to the ground.

D.  Total Body Length = ____________

Stand with back against the wall and feet 15cm (6”) apart.  Place your finger in the soft area below your Adam’s apple.  Move your finger down until you feel the bony notch at the top of you sternum.  Measure from this notch in your sternum to the floor.

E.  Arm Length = ____________

Locate your Acromian Process (the outermost bone of the shoulder which is on top of the hinge point).  It helps to raise and lower your extended arm laterally, while feeling for the hinge point of the shoulder.  Measure from the Acromian Process to the outside of a 2.5cm (1”) diameter dowel or tube (such as a broomstick) held in your hand.

F.  Shoulder Width = ____________

Measure from the left Acromian Process to the right Acromian Process to obtain the shoulder width.

G.  Cycling Shoe Measurement = ____________

Measure the distance from the front of the shoe to the point where the pedal spindle would be if you were clipped in.  This is usually the center of the cleat.
